Dan Ryan
With an ability on the guitar that can adapt to any musical situation, Ryan has contributed his playing, arranging, and producing to countless projects. These include Super City, BODEGA, Talking Points, Outcalls, $100 Girlfriend, Peachface, Ellen Cherry, Wendel Patrick, Theljon Allen, Mary Prankster, Adjective Animal, Micah E. Wood, Kristen Toedtman, Danah Denice, LEAP, and Darius Christian. As a frontman for Super City he has recorded multiple albums as well as toured nationally multiple times. As lead guitarist of BODEGA, he has recorded on the album “Broken Equipment” as well as embarked on multiple international tours.
Ryan is a prolific composer on his own. In 2014, he and his jazz group, Talking Points, released two albums. One of these albums, entitled "Leonard", was a three-movement suite composed by Ryan, featuring a jazz quintet, a string quartet, and a brass quartet. Stylistically it moves seamlessly from modern jazz to a style akin to Bartok, and finally into a post-rock world featuring innovative techniques on the guitar and sweeping strings. He recently provided the musical score to the feature-length documentary film, “English Eccentrics: A Life in Textiles,” by Oliver David, a London filmmaker.
In March 2022, BODEGA released ‘Broken Equipment’ on label What’s Your Rupture? and garnered reviews from Pitchfork, NME, Guitar.com, and Rough Trade. They embarked on four months of touring all over the UK, Europe, and North America, including a stretch warming up the stage for Grammy-nominated band Spoon. In 2023, BODEGA toured Europe and the UK for summer festivals, including the main stages at La Route du Rock and End of the Road Festival. BODEGA has just signed with Chrysalis Records.
'Bodega’s ace is Baltimore-based guitar maestro Daniel Ryan. “Our secret weapon on this record is Dan,” Hozie says. “This is his first time recording with us, although he’s been in the band a long time, doing a bunch of tours with us from 2019. Lately I’ve been driving down to Baltimore to write with him. I bring him finished songs – the words and structure are done, the chords are there but I don’t know how the guitar should go, and I never know what the guitar will do until I work it out with Dan.”'

Super City regularly tours nationally and has played legendary local venues like The 930 Club and Ramshead Live.
“This type of smart-rock has been notably absent from the charts in recent years, and it sounds fabulous. The crisp guitars and inviting synth work provide an excellent foundation.
